Eligibility Criteria
1. BOTANIST  (Vacancy No. 25070901212)
  • PAY SCALE: Level- 07 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.
  • Educational Qualification:
    Master’s Degree in Botany / Horticulture / Life Sciences / Agriculture
    (Life Sciences includes: Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Science, Plant Taxonomy)
  • Experience:
    • 3 years research experience in Angiosperms, Gymnosperms, Algae, Fungi, etc.
    • Experience in field plant collection, herbarium methodology, preservation techniques.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of foreign languages (Latin, French, etc.), ecological studies, digital herbarium, environmental impact, computer applications.
  • AGE: 30 year for UR
 2. Assistant Drugs Controller (India) (Medical Devices) (Vacancy No. 25070902612)
  • PAY SCALE: Level- 11 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.
  • Educational Qualification (Any one):
    • Master’s Degree in Biomedical / Chemical / Mechanical / Electronics / Pharmacy / Pharma Sciences / Medicine / Microbiology / Life Sciences
    • OR Bachelor’s Degree in above disciplines
  • Experience:
    • 4 years (with Master’s Degree)
    • 6 years (with Bachelor’s Degree)
    • In manufacturing/testing/regulation/designing of medical devices
  • Age Limit:
    • UR/EWS: 40 years
    • OBC: 43 years
    • SC/ST: 45 years
    • PwBD: 50 years
3. Junior Scientific Officer in Central Drugs Testing Laboratory,(Vacancy No. 25070903212)
  • PAY SCALE: Level- 08 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.
  • AGE: 30 years for UR.
  • Educational Qualification
  • Master’s degree in Chemistry / Biochemistry / Pharmacy / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Pharmacology / Bacteriology / Medicine / Microbiology / Biotechnology.
  • Experience:
  • 4 years in drug testing, Standardisation, or related research.
    Age Limit  Maximum 30 years (UR)

Selection Process
  • Application Screening
    • All online applications will be screened based on eligibility, qualifications, and experience.
  • Shortlisting of Candidates
    If the number of applicants is large, UPSC may shortlist candidates using the following methods:
    • Higher academic qualifications than prescribed
    • Higher experience than required
    • Possession of Desirable Qualifications (DQ)
    • Relevant experience before or after acquiring essential qualifications
    • Holding a Recruitment Test (RT), if deemed necessary
  • Recruitment Test (if conducted)
    • If UPSC conducts a test, the final merit will be based on:
      • 75% weightage: Recruitment Test
      • 25% weightage: Interview
  • Interview
    • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview.
    • Minimum qualifying marks in interview (out of 100):
      • UR/EWS: 50
      • OBC: 45
      • SC/ST/PwBD: 40
  • Final Selection / Merit List
    • Based on performance in Interview or Recruitment Test + Interview.
  • Document Verification
    • Original documents will be verified during the interview.
    • Any discrepancy or false information may lead to cancellation of candidature and possible debarment from future UPSC exams.

Important facts to know before applying online form
  1. All Posts are Permanent:
    The positions (Botanist, Assistant Drugs Controller, and JSO) are permanent under Group "A" and "B" services.
  2. Job Posting Anywhere in India:
    Though the initial posting headquarters are specified (e.g., Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad), the selected candidates can be transferred anywhere in India.
  3. Mandatory Induction Training:
    Selected candidates must undergo a minimum 2-week induction training as per Government rules during the probation period.
  4. Suitable for PwBD Candidates:
    All posts are suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) with at least 40% disability, subject to submission of a valid certificate.
  5. Cut-off Date for Eligibility:
    All eligibility criteria (age, qualification, experience) will be considered as on 31st July 2025.
  6. Multiple Posts – Apply Separately:
    If applying for more than one post, candidates must fill separate applications and pay the fee separately.
  7. Photograph Requirements:
    • Not older than 10 days from application start date
    • Candidate's name and photo date must be mentioned
    • Clear, front-facing, white or off-white background
  8. Document Language Policy:n (attested 
    If any document is in a language other than English or Hindi, a translated versioby a Gazetted Officer or Notary) must be uploaded.
  9. Debarment Conditions:
    Candidates providing false info, forged documents, or indulging in misconduct will be debarred and possibly prosecuted.
  10. Scribe Facility for PwBD:
    Scribe allowed for blindness, cerebral palsy, and certain locomotor disabilities. Others need to submit a valid CMO/medical certificate.
  11. No Physical Application Submission:
    After online submission, no need to send hardcopy. Carry original documents during interview only.
  12. Interview Minimum Qualifying Marks:
    • UR/EWS: 50
    • OBC: 45
    • SC/ST/PwBD: 40 (out of 100)
  13. TA/DA for Interview:
    Second-class railway fare will be reimbursed for travel to interview venues. Transfer to bank account is also allowed.
  14. Canvassing Will Disqualify:
    Any attempt to influence selection will lead to disqualification.
