There, they must fill out a Common Application Form (CAF), selecting their:
Preferred stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, etc.)
List of schools/colleges (up to 10–20 choices)
Personal and academic details
Once submitted, the application fee of ₹350 is paid online.
Step 2: Merit List Preparation
After applications close, OFSS automatically generates merit lists using:
Marks obtained in Class 10
Student’s category/reservation status
Preferred institutions selected in the form
This is done through a software-based, fair and unbiased process.
Step 3: Release of Selection Lists
Based on the merit, the following lists are released:
1st Merit List
2nd Merit List
3rd List (if required)
Each list assigns students to a specific school or college and stream based on availability and their merit rank.
Step 4: Download Intimation Letter
If a student is selected, they must log into the OFSS portal and download their Intimation Letter, which includes:
Name of the allotted college/school
Stream allotted
Admission dates
Required documents
Step 5: Admission at the Allotted College
Selected students must visit their allotted institution between the specified dates with:
The intimation letter
Class 10 mark sheet and certificate
School leaving certificate
Passport-size photos
Relevant caste/reservation/income certificates
Admission fee
After document verification and payment, admission is granted.
Step 6: Slide-Up Option
If a student wants to upgrade to a higher preference, they can opt for Slide-Up while taking provisional admission.
This means:
If seats are available in a better-ranked college (as per your form), you may get upgraded in the next list.
But if you don’t take provisional admission, you won’t be considered in future lists.
Step 7: Spot Admission (If Needed)
In case seats remain vacant after all merit lists, OFSS may allow spot admissions. These are usually offline and for students who were not selected earlier.
Final Word
There is no entrance exam in this process. Everything is based on Class 10 marks and student preferences.
It's important to check the official website and your SMS/email regularly for updates. Missing a deadline can result in loss of seat.
