CEN 01/2024 – Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)

• Original Notification (dated January 20, 2024): Recruitment for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP), with 5,696 vacancies initially notified across Indian Railways.
• Revised Vacancies (Corrigendum dated June 19, 2024): Vacancy count enhanced to 18,799, more than thrice the original.

RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) – CEN 01/2024

1. Educational Qualification 

Candidate must have any one of the following:

• Matriculation / SSLC + ITI in trades approved by NCVT/SCVT.
  Example: Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic Radio & TV, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic Diesel, Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic. OR
• Matriculation / SSLC + Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in above trades. OR
• 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering.

Note: Diploma/Degree holders can apply directly, ITI not mandatory for them.

2. Age Limit  

• Minimum: 18 years to  30 years (as on 01.07.2024)

Age Relaxation:

• OBC (NCL): +3 years (33 years)
• SC/ST: +5 years (35 years)
• PwBD: +10 years (40 years for UR, 43 for OBC, 45 for SC/ST)

3. Medical Standards  

• A-1 Medical Standard (किसी प्रकार का शारीरिक दोष या रंग दृष्टि की कमी स्वीकार्य नहीं है)।
• Visual standards: 6/6, 6/9 (with/without glasses), no Night Blindness or Color Blindness

• General / OBC / EWS : ₹ 500/-

•  PH / SC / ST : ₹ 250/- 

• All Category Female : ₹ 250/-

• After Appear the Stage I Exam

• OBC / UR / EWS Fee Refund : ₹ 400/-

• SC / ST /  PH / Female Refund : ₹ 250/- 

RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) – CEN 01/2024

1. Computer Based Test – Stage I (CBT-1)

• Objective type (MCQ).
• Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness.
• Qualifying in nature.
• Normalization of marks will be applied.

2. Computer Based Test – Stage II (CBT-2)

• Divided into Part A & Part B.

Part A

• Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, Basic Science & Engineering.
• Marks considered for merit.

Part B

• Trade-specific questions (as per ITI/Diploma trade).
• Qualifying only (minimum 35%).

3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) – only for ALP

• Mandatory for candidates shortlisted in CBT-2.
• No negative marking.
• Qualifying marks: 42 in each test battery (no relaxation).
• Final merit list will be based on 70% weightage CBT-2 (Part A) + 30% CBAT.

4. Document Verification (DV)

• All educational, caste, and identity documents checked.

5. Medical Examination

• Candidates must pass A-1 medical standard.

RRB ALP (CEN 01/2024)

• Recruitment for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) under Indian Railways.

• Educational Qualification: ITI / Diploma / Engineering in relevant trade.
• Age Limit: 18 – 30 years (Relaxation for OBC/SC/ST/PwBD as per rules).
• Selection Process: CBT-1 → CBT-2 (Part A & B) → Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) → Document Verification → Medical Examination.
• Medical Standard: A-1 (Highest level; candidates with color blindness are not eligible).
• Final Merit: Based on 70% CBT-2 (Part A) + 30% CBAT.
• Trade-specific knowledge and aptitude test play a key role in shortlisting.

• Download City Slip/Admit Card
  – First look for the City Intimation Slip, then download the Admit Card when it is available.
• Print it
  – Take a print out of the admit card and carry it to the exam center.
