West Central Railway (WCR) has released a central notification inviting candidates to apply online for 2865 Act Apprentice positions for the year 2025-26. The apprenticeship will be conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961 across various railway workshops and units in divisions including Jabalpur, Bhopal, Kota, and others.

Eligibility Criteria

Act Apprenticeship 2025-26 in West Central Railway

 Age Limit (As on 20/08/2025):

  • 15 to 24 years
  • Relaxations: SC/ST +5 yrs, OBC +3 yrs, PwBD +10 yrs, Ex-servicemen up to +10 yrs +3 yrs (min 6 months service)
  1. Educational Qualification:
    • Passed 10th class (under 10+2 system) with minimum 50% marks (no rounding off)
    • Must have NCVT/SCVT National Trade Certificate in notified trade
    • Qualification must be completed before 20/08/2025
    • Candidates appearing or awaiting result are not eligible
  2. PwBD Eligibility:
    • Minimum 40% relevant disability
    • Hearing loss ≥60 decibels in better ear (for hearing impaired)
    • Trade-wise eligibility as per notification
    • Valid disability certificate required
  3. Documents for Reservation:
    • SC/ST: Caste certificate as per Central Govt format
    • OBC: Caste + Non-Creamy Layer certificate (valid as on closing date)
    • Ex-servicemen & Armed Forces Personnel: Discharge or serving certificate
    • PwBD: Valid disability certificate
  4. Important:
    • Name, father’s name, DOB must match matric certificate exactly
    • False documents lead to disqualification/removal anytime
    • Engineering graduates & diploma holders not eligible under this notification

  • General/OBC Candidates: Rs. 141/- (Rs.100 as Application Fee + Rs. 41 Processing Fee)
  • SC/ST/PwBD/Women: Rs. 41/- (Processing Fee only)
  • Payment to be made online through designated link.
  • No refund of fee if paid more than once.
Selection Process

WCR Act Apprentice Notification 2025

  1. Merit-Based Selection:
    • Candidates will be selected based on a merit list prepared using the average of marks obtained in the 10th class examination and ITI/trade marks.
  2. Merit List Categories:
    • Separate merit lists will be prepared trade-wise, division/unit-wise, and community-wise.
  3. Document Verification:
    • Candidates from the merit list will be called for document verification at their applied units.
    • Candidates must produce original documents for verification.
  4. Tie-Breaking Criteria:
    • In case two candidates have the same marks, preference is given to the elder candidate.
    • If the date of birth is the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier will be preferred.
  5. Final Merit List:
    • A final merit list will be prepared matching the number of available slots in each trade and division/unit, based on the combined marks and reservation categories.
  6. Handling Shortage of Candidates:
    • If there is a shortfall in any trade or division/unit, vacancies may be filled from waiting lists of other divisions/units according to merit.
  7. No Guarantee of Employment:
    • Apprenticeship is purely for training; there is no obligation for employment after completion of the training period.

Overall, selection is through centralized merit criteria based on academic and trade marks, reservation policies, and document verification.

    • Eligible candidates will be called for document verification at the applied division/unit.
    • No change in division/unit or trade is permitted after submission.
