Senior Laboratory Technician

• Essential Qualification & Experience:

  • Option 1:

    • M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / General Microbiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry (with or without DMLT).

    • Minimum 2 years of work experience in TB Laboratory testing for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, specifically in Genotypic tests (e.g., Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests, Line Probe Assay) or Phenotypic tests (Culture & Drug Susceptibility Tests) 

  • Option 2:

    • B.Sc. (Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Life Science, Botany, Zoology) + DMLT.

    • Minimum 3 years of work experience in TB Laboratory testing for Mycobacterium tuberculosis using Genotypic or Phenotypic tests.

Laboratory Technician

• General Qualification:

  • For NTEP:

    • Intermediate (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is mandatory. 

  • For NVHCP:

    • The above qualification must be followed by a Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) OR a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from any recognized University or Institution.

  • For All Sections:

    • The basic eligibility for Laboratory Technician posts under NPPCF, NIDDCP, NPCDCS, Blood Bank/BBSU, RTPCR Lab (IDSP), HWC, and NUHM generally involves 10+2 with PCB and DMLT/BMLT.

• Note:

  • All academic and experience certificates must be valid as of the cut-off date (03/09/2025).

  • Candidates must have all original documents for verification as per program guidelines.

• Computer Based Test (CBT):

  • All eligible applicants will undergo a CBT which consists of 75 multiple-choice objective questions.

  • Each question carries 1 mark, for a total of 75 marks.

  • The CBT will be conducted in both Hindi and English languages.

  • Negative marking: For each wrong answer, 0.25 mark will be deducted. 

  • The duration of the exam is 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes).

  • If the number of candidates is high, the exam may be held in multiple shifts/palies; results will be normalized accordingly. 

• Weightage Calculation:

  • The percentage of marks obtained in CBT will be multiplied by 0.8 for weightage in final score.

    • Example: If a candidate scores 50%, the weightage will be 50 × 0.8 = 40 marks. 

• Experience Weightage (COVID-19 Contractual Lab Technician):

  • Candidates with work experience as lab technicians under COVID-19 arrangements will get 5 marks per completed year, up to a maximum of 20 marks.

  • If experience includes part of a year, marks are awarded proportionally using:

     Marks=(Number of days worked×5)/365

  • Total maximum possible selection score: 100 marks. 

• Document Verification:

  • Candidates qualifying the CBT will be called for document verification in a ratio of up to 1:2.5 (vacancy to candidates) as per merit for their category. 

• Final Merit List:

  • Final result is based on total marks (CBT weightage + experience weightage), reservation norms, and successful document verification.

  • In case of tie in marks:

    1. Older candidate (by date of birth) preferred.

    2. If both same DOB, candidate with higher educational qualification preferred.

• Minimum Qualifying Marks (CBT):

  • General: 40%

  • Backward Class (BC): 36.5%

  • Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 34%

Government Lab Technician Jobs Bihar

• Appointments are purely contractual, initially for 11 months, extendable up to 60 years or as per NHM funding.
