Selection Process

- Shortlisting of Applications
- If the number of applications is very high then UPSC can use the following methods for shortlisting:
- Higher Qualification (above the minimum qualification)
- Higher Experience (based on experience)
- Recruitment Test (written test)
- Recruitment Test (if conducted)
- UPSC may conduct written test as per requirement.
- Weightage of Recruitment Test and Interview in the final merit can be kept 75:25.
- Interview / Personality Test
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks in Interview:
- UR / EWS – 50%
- OBC – 45%
- SC / ST / PwBD – 40%
- Final Merit List
- The final selection will be based on Recruitment Test (if held) + Interview Marks or Interview Performance alone.
Important facts to know before applying online form
UPSC Advertisement No. 12/2025
- Fill in the correct information – All the information given in the application form should be correct and accurate. Application may be cancelled if wrong information is given.
- Only one application will be valid – If a candidate applies more than once, UPSC will accept only the last submitted application.
- Application Fee – Pay the fee only through Online Mode (Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI / SBI Challan).
- Photo and Signature – Scan passport size photo and signature and upload it in the prescribed size and format (JPG/JPEG).
- Document Upload – It is mandatory to upload educational certificate, experience certificate, and reservation related documents (if applicable).
- Fee Exemption – SC/ST/PwBD and all female candidates are exempted from application fee.
- Application Print – Do not forget to take a printout of the application before the last date (12 September 2025 till 11:59 PM). This will be required at the time of interview.
- Eligibility Date – Age and educational qualification will be calculated till the last date of application (11 September 2025).
- Recruitment Test / Interview Information – UPSC will inform the shortlisted candidates separately about the date of examination/interview.
- Passport Size Photo – Recent color photo (JPG/JPEG format, in prescribed size).
- Signature – Signature on white page with black/blue pen (JPG/JPEG format).
- Educational Certificates – 10th / 12th certificate (for DOB and Qualification).
- Graduation / Post Graduation Degree (in relevant subject).
- B.Ed. Certificate (Mandatory for Lecturer posts).
- Law Degree (Mandatory for Prosecutor posts).
- Experience Certificate – To prove 7 years experience for the post of Public Prosecutor.
- SC / ST / OBC / EWS Certificate (in Prescribed Format).
- PwBD Certificate (In case of Benchmark Disability).
- Ladakh Domicile Certificate (Mandatory for Lecturer posts).
- ID Proof – Aadhar Card/PAN Card/Passport/Voter ID.
- Other required certificates – If applicable (Ex-Servicemen/Government Service Certificate etc.).

- First of all open the official website of UPSC 👉 https://upsconline.gov.in/
- Click on the link “Online Recruitment Application (ORA)”.
- Select the relevant post (Assistant Public Prosecutor / Public Prosecutor / Lecturer) under Advertisement No. 12/2025.
- Do New Registration and create Login ID / Password.
- Fill your personal information, educational qualification and experience in the application form.
- Upload the required documents (photo, signature, certificate).
- Pay the prescribed application fee through Online Mode (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI or SBI Challan).
- After completing the application, submit the final and take a print out of the application form.
- The print copy of the application has to be taken along at the time of interview.
